Lost Dinosaur found!

A new dinosaur was found in the year 2013. Paleontologists named the dino "Spinosaurus". It was an aquatic dinosaur and it was the first water-dwelling dino ever discovered. How cool is that?

Spinosaurus lived during the Cretaceous period. It was built for the water, not land. The dino had teeth that were six inches long. That's how long a banana is!!
The humongous dinosaur ate mainly fish, like many Cretaceous Era dinos. The name Spinosaurus means "spine lizard." It is called this because the dinosaur had very long spines growing on its back to form what we call a "sail." These diferent spines, which grew out of the animal's back bone, and were connected to one another by skin. Each spine is normal surfboard-sized, about 7 feet or 2.1 meters. Thus, the dinosaur got it's name from it's long spine. The dino was at least 50 feet long. That's longer than a T-Rex, which is only about 40 feet long! The Spinosaurus' claws are 20 inches long. It could gulp 130 pounds in one bite!! Spinosaurus weighed 6 to 7 tons, that's about 6 or 7 elephants combined! Spinosaurus is front heavy and looks like a cross between crocodile and sloth. The paleontologists had a tough time identifying and finding out the details. The dino was found earlier before World War II, in 1912, the year the Titanic set off on its maiden voyage and sank. The fossils were uncovered in Egypt and kept in a museum in Germany. During World War II, a bombing demolished the building and everything inside, including the Spinosaurus skeleton. This destroyed any evidence about the dinosaur. Luckily we found another one in 2013. What kind of dinos do you think will be found? Well, don't rule anything out yet. Someone might find the dinosaur YOU imagine.
See you in the next post! Good-bye!

Thanks Google for the picture and some information. Also thanks National Geographic for the other set of information.
