Haiku: What It Is And An Example

Haiku is a word in the Japanese language. A haiku (HI-coo) is a poem with three lines.  Each line has a specific number of syllables (to learn more click READ MORE).
The top line has five syllables, the second has seven, and the third also has five.
Haiku is unique to Japanese poetry, so much that it has been written over the past centuries.

Here is an example I wrote myself:

                                                             The nesting bird has
a nest laden with fine eggs
                                         inside small chicks hide.
